Twitter Blue Subscription Cool Enough For Facebook to Copy?
Twitter is elevating the social media experience with a new feature.
In a joint statement released on July 3, 2021, Twitter Senior Director and Product Management Sara Beykpour and Staff Product Manager Smita Gupta announced that Twitter is making the necessary efforts to make the experience more convenient to its users.
The Twitter Blue Subscription allows users to categorize tweets in folders, revise a tweet within 30 seconds after posting, read easily with a new interface, and a chance to choose themes and designs for the app’s icon on their phone’s home screen, among many perks.
The pair shared that they developed these features based on the tweets posted by users in the previous months, most of which included feedback about the social media platform’s limited actions.
This new feature is currently available and accessible in Canada and Australia. However, the subscription may still take time to be entirely free. Subscribers can enjoy the perks by a monthly price of $3.49 CAD or $4.49 AUD.
With Twitter announcing these changes, it would look like Facebook is taking the same route with their expansion on social media platforms and new integrated features that will monetize content for creators to earn.
This would be the first of the significant changes that Twitter is undertaking within a year. In May 2022, business mogul Elon Musk purchased the social media site at a whopping $44 billion. On a path towards becoming its next CEO, Musk is considering the requirement of fees for users to access more features on the site.
