The creator economy is an industry made by over 50 million independent content creators. They build profitable businesses and other revenue streams derived from their content.
In this episode of Good Morning Marketers we review SignalFire’s Creator Economy Market Map. The year 2020 proved to be a pivotal point for the content creator economy, as influencer marketing spend has reached over $10,000,000 according to SignalFire. But the early days of the content creator economy wasn’t always like this.
The pioneers of the content creator economy are so-called ‘broadcasters’. They posted media and content across platforms that they think would be worth sharing. Most of them upload what they love, such as comedy sketches, commentary, and gameplay.
The next level of content creators revolves around monetizing their content. These include things such as ad-supported streaming as well as channel memberships. Despite that, they are still very much affiliated with their digital content.
The latest level is about content creators building their own business–both big and small. Some can be small like launching a small business catered to making crafts, to full-blown enterprises.
