How Roblox Creators Are Making Millions
Roblox, a popular sandbox game, has some creators earning millions in revenue. According to a recent report, Roblox paid developers $129.7 million in the second quarter of 2021, and its 600 developers earn over $85,000 per year.
Then there is YouTube creator MeganPlays earning over $1 million on her YouTube channel. Aside from channel uploads, she also develops original games within Roblox. This is through Roblox Studio, its subsidiary that handles original game developments. Yet, exploitation seems to be rampant. An investigation by 'People Make Games' has documented exorbitant cuts from developers. Most of them are kids who get recruited by larger developer teams.
Unfortunately Roblox has not conveted any of our games into toys! So we don’t get any licensing revenue from Roblox at this time :)

Sandbox games such as Minecraft have benefited content creators in the long run. Being an open world, they can create infinite possibilities to play the game and license it under an agreement. It is the reason why there are Roblox and Minecraft YouTube channels. The sandbox aspect of the game makes content creation limitless at this point.
