Snapchat News Show 'Stay Tuned' Celebrates 5 Years

'Stay Tuned,' the daily news show by NBC News, recently celebrated five years on Snapchat. As of that milestone, 'Stay Tuned' has 10.5 million subscribers on Snapchat. It has also received 1 million unique viewers per episode.

'Stay Tuned' is an ideal example of journalism in short-form content. Many media companies, such as Brut. and NowThis pioneered these news bites to deliver what is vital to viewers. As a result, major publications like CNN, BBC, and Al Jazeera have resorted to using news bites as well.

But NBC's model is more different. Instead of staying on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, they tap Snapchat as well. A platform known to be media-oriented is a challenge. But somehow, they managed it. With people's retention getting shorter, news bites like this are vital.

Cases like this are examples of how short-form media is evolving over time. We started off with Internet dance challenges, and now we are moving towards news and informative content. And while long-form media will always stay, short-form media is the new trend we need to ride.
